3.4 Coin toss
The first referee stands on the side of team A (to the left of the net as seen from the scorer's table) near the net post on the sideline, and the second referee stands on the side of team B, facing the scorer's table. The team captains of both teams represent their teams in the coin toss.
The first referee assigns each captain a side of the coin and then conducts the coin toss. The winner of the coin toss can choose one of the following options:
- service
- reception or
- side
